This work is an experiment in constructing a sonic ethnography through recorded stories and everyday sounds. The piece is an interactive and collaborative sound installation that explores the folklore, social and individual memories and experiences of everyday life of Kareizawa. The sounds gathered were inspired by conversations with local residents and were recorded in or near Kareizwa. Visitors can interact with the sounds and adjust the volume to create a composition. In this way, people can compose their own stories through these collected sounds, creating individual responses and expressions. Iā€™d like to invite visitors to explore a new way of experiencing and imagining this place through sound.
